Commercial Division Roofing and Sheet Metal Project Manager

Job Responsibilities:

The role of the Commercial Roofing and Sheet Metal Project Manager is a hybrid position where the Project Manager manages all phases of multifaceted projects that require  knowledge/experience in roofing, sheet metal, wall panels, siding, ACM and standing seam.  The Project Manager manages and supports all construction activities: preconstruction, in–progress, post construction. Manage client throughout project to ensure satisfaction; have a day-to-day working understanding of each ongoing project, manage / achieve critical due dates, manage / support the Field Supervisors; create agenda and participate in monthly foremen’s meetings; attend weekly operations meetings; achieve annual budgeted revenue and gross margin goals. Complete performance evaluations on Field Supervisors per company policy.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and effectively manage all phases of sheet metal/wall panel projects from Preconstruction to Project Close Out
  • Perform daily job site visits and assess resources for proper allocation, quality, and cost control
  • Manage subcontractors if applicable
  • Educate staff on safety, reinforce OSHA safety standards, and perform safety inspections
  • Attend on-site construction meetings
  • Work with Field Supervisors to prepare change orders and communicate with the client
  • Working with VP of Operations, prepare billing documentation
  • Monitor job costs – understand financial status of projects
  • Work with Accounting and Payroll on questions pertaining to invoices, purchase orders etc.
  • Ensure Field Supervisors complete required reporting
  • Support Field Supervisors with training requirements, resource planning and job performance
  • Provide roofing information - price, quality, point of sales material
  • Resolve customer concerns, orders, and inquiries
  • Pro-actively understand activities of competition and continually engage in customer retention and growth strategies to build strong relationships with customers
  • Record customer operations activity using customer relationship management technology
  • Be a proficient user and trainer of Burns & Scalo’s proprietary enterprise system, MasterKey™
  • Communicate with customers regularly and ensure satisfaction
  • Communicate to the sales and operations department to ensure a proper hand off from sales to operations to provide the best customer experience possible
  • Conduct annual performance reviews

Job Qualifications:

  • Possess a minimum of 5 years of Roofing industry experience in a supervising capacity/managing crews with a heavy emphasis in commercial roofing and sheet metal
  • Leadership skills in order to mentor and motivate staff
  • Possess Customer Care focus and have ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Safety conscious and adhere to and mentor others on all company safety policies and procedures
  • Proficiency in taking roof measurements, reading architectural drawings, interpreting schedules, bid data, and entering info into Estimating and Project Management programs
  • Strong time management, planning, and organization skills to organize resources for multiple job sites projects while managing your own schedule
  • Ability to comprehend, explain, and present roofing system solutions to customers and problem solve for any concerns or inquiries on their behalf
  • Computer and technical skills such as Microsoft Office and ability to learn and administer functions in TimberLine and MasterKey software systems to effectively perform duties.  
  • Comfortable working with cloud-based roof management software
  • Effective communicate skills (written and oral) to successfully communicate with customers regularly to ensure satisfaction
  • Comfortable at heights and climbing ladders
  • Experience with iPhone and iPad technology a plus
  • Possess OSHA 30 Hour Card or be willing to take online course within first 30 days of employment to receive
  • Strong and effective communication and presentation skills (written and oral)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Construction Management, or related field preferred
  • Physical demands include climbing ladders, walking, sitting, bending, lifting, and kneeling needed to complete essential job functions
