Solar Electrician / Solar Technician

Job Responsibilities:

Leading solar company is seeking a Solar Electrician or Solar Technician responsible for the installation and maintenance of Photovoltaic systems and associated data communications infrastructure on commercial and residential properties.



  • Must have 5+ years of field electrical construction experience. Solar experience is preferred but not required.
  • Installs DC electrical systems per plans and specifications provided by PM.
  • Reading Blueprints, electrical diagrams, and drawings related to system design and electrical construction.
  • Installs string configurations for solar arrays & runs electrical DC wires to inverters.
  • Installs all aspects of installation, including cutting, bending, & threading pipe. 
  • Organize & maintain system components in warehouses, company trucks, & at job sites
  • Document completion of completed installation
  • Troubleshoot and repair any electrically driven equipment associated with Solar Roofing Systems
  • Attend Foreman’s meetings; report to site superintendent / PM for production, safety, etc.
  • Manage Technician(s) ; Direct efforts  and supervise work of subordinates.



  • Must have 2-years of electrical vocational training.   
  • Installs & Programs inverters, web servers, routers, revenue grade meters, power supplies, POE site-to-site Antennas and other related data communication devices.
  • Computer experience is a must, with skilled knowledge of Internet protocol network addressing and routing. And the ability to alter IP addresses, DHCP, Subnet mask, gateway addresses, etc.
  • Capable of reading Blueprints, electrical diagrams, and drawings related to system design and electrical construction.
  • Capable of troubleshooting electrical circuits for ground faults, reversed polarity, open circuits, etc.
  • Use of a 1000V DC clamping multi-meter for testing Voc, Vmp, Isc, Imp and continuity.   

Job Qualifications:


  • Ability to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling & squatting for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work in extreme environments (example: heat, snow, rain, wind, etc.)
  • Willingness & capability to climb ladders, stairs, & work on rooftops
  • Ability to lift, pull, & push materials & equipment to complete assigned job tasks
  • Capability to lift 60 lbs. of weight frequently throughout assigned workday
  • OSHA 10 Required (OSHA 30 preferred)
  • Familiar with, and capable of finding electrical code requirements in the National Electric Code Book.
  • Valid Driver’s License and permissible background check including driving record and clean drug test
