Job Description: Residential Roofing Salesperson/Estimator

Reporting to the Residential Division Manager, the role of the Salesperson/Estimator is to grow the residential business in the Pittsburgh area through prospecting, marketing analysis and building rapport with customers to ensure a positive, consistent customer experience.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify potential customers through effective prospecting and marketing activities
  • Conduct in-home presentations and convert prospects into actual sales through effective closing techniques
  • Develop and maintain homeowner relationships with a focus on creating a consistent customer experience to generate business referrals and repeat business
  • Act as the primary contact for customers throughout their project and provide a first-class customer experience
  • Identify market trends, maintain awareness of competitive activity in the residential roofing industry, and strategically manage sales activities to correspond to those elements
  • Perform roof inspections and understand customer needs to recommend the best product(s) for their home
  • Work as an integral part of the in-house estimating staff to create and provide customers with detailed and accurate roof measurements, estimates, and proposals
  • Provide roofing information - price, quality, point of sales material
  • Resolve customer concerns, orders, and inquiries
  • Record and maintain customer sales activity
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Job Qualifications:

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum of two (2) years successful outside sales/account management experience
  • Previous roofing or construction industry experience
  • Proficient in taking measurements
  • Able to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Customer-Centric: Be available to take care of customer needs, which may require evening calls or meetings as needed to accommodate customer schedules
  • Amiable and outgoing personality capable of engaging potential customers
  • Comfortable assessing customer needs and effectively presenting products and services
  • Strong time management and organization skills
  • Authentic sense of self-accountability and drive to succeed in meeting customer, company, and self-administered goals
  • Computer and technical skills (MS Office Package, iPad, iPhone, other devices)
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (written and oral)
  • Physical demands include climbing ladders, access roofs, walking, sitting, bending, lifting, and kneeling as needed to complete essential job functions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Customer Management Software a plus (Masterkey, Roofware, FCS, Timberline, or other)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management or related field
